Program Description: This course will enable clinicians to provide evidence-based pain management techniques to effectively treat acute and chronic myofascial pain without the use of pharmacologic treatments within a multimodal treatment plan. Students will conduct a thorough review of clinically relevant anatomy with hands on lab training with the conduct of advanced palpation, functional assessments, and the application of safe trigger point dry needling techniques in the upper extremity, lower extremity, and spine.

This hybrid course will require health care professionals to engage with 3-7 modules a week related to research theory and practice in preparation for a small group practical exercise to identify a research problem, create a research team and apply methodology. Many junior Army Medical Specialist Corps (AMSC) are interested in conducting clinical research that moves their profession forward in a meaningful way. However, most of these officers lack the knowledge and competence to engage in research due to a lack of familiarity with the topic and how to get started in their current position.
