Recent deaths have highlighted how SCT is a risk factor for exertional injury during the Air Force (AF) fitness test. Across all services there is an upward trend in heat illness and rhabdomyolysis over the past five years. Due to these occurrences recent policy changes have been made to include two compulsory counseling sessions with providers to address factors such as family planning and screenings.
