DHA Public Health Essentials of Health Promotion

Program Description:
DHA Public Health Essentials of Health Promotion is an online workshop series designed to equip learners with foundational knowledge and skills in public health promotion to support efforts that facilitate behavioral and environmental changes to improve the health and well-being of military communities. Learners will become familiar with core public health promotion concepts and develop/refine competencies and practical skills in areas such as community health assessment, planning, evaluation, and health communication. The course consists of six self-paced modules in JKO VCLASS, accessible on demand. For each module, learners will view recorded narrated presentations and have access to downloadable presentation slides and other supplemental learning materials.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, social workers, athletic trainers, registered dietitians, dietetic technicians, and healthcare executives. A certificate of attendance is available for all other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Comprehend core concepts and frameworks within the field of public health promotion and their application to military health, resilience, and readiness.
- Assess the health and wellness needs and priorities of military communities.
- Utilize various data collection strategies for determining health promotion needs in a target population.
- Plan comprehensive health promotion programs and services tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of military populations, with consideration of (not limited to) cultural, social, and environmental factors.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of health promotion initiatives within military communities using appropriate evaluation methods and metrics to assess outcomes and determine areas for improvement.
- Develop, test, and assess health promotion communication strategies and deliver messages clearly and effectively to diverse military audiences using a variety of channels and formats.

- 3.00 Healthcare Executives (ACHE)By attending this program offered by DHA, J-7, CEPO, participants may earn up to 3.00 American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Qualified Education hours toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation. Participants in this program who wish to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants must log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

DHA, J-7, CEPO is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). CDR Credentialed Practitioners will receive 3.00 Continuing Professional Education units (CPEUs) for completion of this activity/material.
- 3.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE)
In support of improving patient care, DHA, J-7, CEPO is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 3.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
Requirements: CE/CME certificates are awarded to participants who fully complete the activity, successfully submit the evaluation survey, and pass the posttest. The deadline to claim credit is Apr 29, 2026.
