Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care Individual Counseling Course
The SUDCC Individual Counseling Course, 5H-F4/302-F4, is an evidenced-based two-week course on addictions counseling based on the counseling competencies outlined in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Technical Assistance Publication (TAP) 21. This course includes the foundational knowledge of addiction by presenting the most recent research and theory. Students have the opportunity to apply what's being presented through role-plays with simulated clients. The course is a skills-building course and incorporates observation, practice, and feedback to connect learning and application. Student performance is evaluated by a written examination and a graded practicum exercise. A passing grade on the written examination and practicum performance examination is required for successful course completion.
