Program Description

This live, in-person course will introduce basic didactic and laboratory instruction covering peripheral and central vestibular anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology; initial assessment of the dizzy patient (history and clinical examination), assessment and treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and other disorders of the peripheral vestibular system; general treatment and rehabilitation techniques for the dizzy patient.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, and occupational therapy assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe common causes of vestibular impairment in the DoD
  2. Understand and interpret appropriate clinical assessment tools for individuals with dizziness
  3. Perform an appropriate evaluation of an individual with dizziness
  4. Differentiate between central and peripheral causes of vestibular impairment
  5. Demonstrate understanding of the unique circumstances that contribute to the clinical presentation of our Service Members with dizziness.
