Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

  1. Identify key features of the Military Acute Concussion Evaluation 2 (MACE 2)
  2. Describe the domains that are screened in the MACE 2
  3. Describe how the MACE 2 improves the current standard of care for traumatic brain injury (TBI) identification and management
  4. Identify the key changes to the updated 2021 Progressive Return to Activity (PRA) Clinical Recommendation
  5. Explain the rationale for using a PRA protocol for service members (SMs) post-concussion
  6. Understand the criteria for progression following a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)
  7. Identify appropriate activities at each stage of progression
  8. Understand how to apply primary care management strategies and specialty referral considerations to treat concussed SMs who are not progressing as expected
  9. Describe the Anomalous Health Incident (AHI) Acute Assessment (Defense Health Agency (DHA) Form 244)
  10. Review published literature on assessment and treatment of individuals exposed to directed energy
