Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss low weight/high weight direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) use.
  2. Describe factors dictating the restart of DOACs after procedure and/or bleeding.
  3. Identify clinical applications and systems to streamline clinical pharmacy workflow.
  4. Describe how speech recognition software is applicable to patient encounter documentation and other typing functions.
  5. Identify opioid reduction strategies that can be implemented by clinical pharmacy.
  6. Explain reasons and indications for tapering opioid regimens.
  7. Explain standardized documentation of medications in the electronic health record system.
  8. Compare patient interview techniques while performing a medication reconciliation.
  9. Identify potential weaknesses or failures within a clinical pharmacy environment
  10. Discuss mitigation strategies to reduce the chance of medication or patient safety errors
