Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain information gathering techniques and documentation.
  2. Summarize improvements to patient education with the clinical pharmacy technician.
  3. Delineate ways the clinical pharmacy technician can document and improve the patient pharmacy experience.
  4. Discuss how to code for face-to-face and non-face-to-face time when documenting patient care activities.
  5. Explain the importance of medical record documentation.
  6. Contrast the difference between new and established patients as it relates to selecting the appropriate CPT code.
  7. Describe the DoD formulary process.
  8. Describe the role of the DoD Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  9. Differentiate behavioral health screening tools.
  10. Identify drug classes that qualify for psychotropic polypharmacy.
  11. Identify clinical pharmacy cost reduction strategies for high-cost medications and non-formulary medications.
  12. Describe effective strategies to implement P&T Committee-directed formulary conversions with the medical team.
