Target Audience

This CE activity is provided by the DHA J-7 Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, kinesiotherapists, counselors, and healthcare executives. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify the spirit and principles of MI.

2. Name several MI skills to improve interactions with patients who are ambivalent.

3. Understand importance of resiliency.

4. Identify traits of resilient nurses.

5. Describe the resources available to you at LRMC to enhance your Joint Commission compliance.

6. Identify deficiencies as seen by The Joint Commission.

7. Utilize therapeutic communication strategies to discuss end of life issues with patients and families.

8. Differentiate between palliative and hospice/comfort care.

9. Identify cause of medical errors.

10. Review lessons learned to prevent future errors.

11. Know the functions and attributes of the PCMH.

12. Discuss how the PCMH model promotes patient centered, comprehensive, coordinated care across the continuum of care.

13. Discuss the importance of NSIs in the Ambulatory setting and summarize how they can improve the quality and satisfaction of care.

14. Identify and describe some of the key ambulatory NSIs
