RHCE 2019 Fall Medical Surgical Conference: Nursing: Day 2: Inpatient
Target Audience
This CE activity is provided by the DHA J-7 Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, kinesiotherapists, counselors, and healthcare executives. Learning Objectives
1. Identify the spirit and principles of MI.
2. Name several MI skills to improve interactions with patients who are ambivalent.
3. Understand importance of resiliency.
4. Identify traits of resilient nurses.
5. Describe the resources available to you at LRMC to enhance your Joint Commission compliance.
6. Identify deficiencies as seen by The Joint Commission.
7. Utilize therapeutic communication strategies to discuss end of life issues with patients and families.
8. Differentiate between palliative and hospice/comfort care.
9. Identify cause of medical errors.
10. Review lessons learned to prevent future errors.
11. Recognize and activate the rapid response team based on the patient hitting parameters according to policy.
12. Assess and identify chest tube emergencies (air leak and/or displacement), and perform appropriate actions to correct the issue and manage treatment of the patient.
13. Recommended clinical guideline due to suspected sepsis and act out appropriate interventions.
14. Prioritize interventions based on evolving data assessment and interpretation.
