Program Description
This interactive educational activity is designed for nurses that care for expectant and new parents with nursing infants. The goal of this activity is to educate nurses on the most current, evidenced based methods to educate, encourage, and support breast feeding among new and experienced parents.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for nurses. A certificate of attendance is available for all other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will initiate a Baby Friendly Lactation plan of care that will integrate the best evidence available.
- Participants will be able to effectively evaluate and use alternative methods to support breastfeeding when mother faces feeding challenges and/or mother and baby are ill.
- Participants will articulate the purpose and scope of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and the associated practical clinical guidelines for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
