Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, athletic trainers, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the common signs and symptoms of cervical referred pain that may present as a shoulder complaint.
- Acquire familiarization with the manual therapy and repeated motions techniques used to treat cervical referred pain.
- Review key psychosocial screening and assessment techniques used in the triage process.
- Define the triage categories and describe interventions applied to each category.
- Recall the history of acupuncture, philosophical principles and rational acupuncture is based on.
- Differentiate between traditional and modern scientific explanations of the effects of acupuncture and some mechanisms of its action.
- Describe the ABCs for Radiographs and Advance Imaging Process.
- Understand the indications for ordering imaging for the upper extremity.
- List the most common interventional pain management procedures.
- Discuss the current therapeutic thought process.
- Identify structural anatomy of shoulder/scapula complex
- Recite signs of scapular dyskinesia and associated symptoms
- Develop treatment strategies for scapular dyskinesia.
- Summarize the risk factors associated with running injuries.
- Optimize running performance and reduce risk of injury.
