Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Distinguish the levels and dimensions of interoperability per military policies and guidance.
  2. Employ key principles of global health engagement (GHE) in Europe and Africa per authorities, regulations, and U.S. laws.
  3. Present statistics and data on disparities in surgical outcomes.
  4. Discuss the social determinants of health that contribute to disparities.
  5. Evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) clinical currency of a low volume Navy outside the contiguous United States (OCONUS) military treatment facility (MTF) compared to a medium/large size Navy MTF.
  6. Examine the role of a military-civilian (MIL-CIV) partnership in acquisition of KSAs for low volume MTFs.
  7. Describe developing a simulation educator program.
  8. Establish a simulation-based curriculum for surgeon-specific skills.
  9. Demonstrate how to use simulation for our teammates (medics/corpsmen, etc.).
  10. Identify the importance of military working dogs (MWD) in our nation’s defense.
