Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Distinguish the levels and dimensions of interoperability per military policies and guidance.
- Employ key principles of global health engagement (GHE) in Europe and Africa per authorities, regulations, and U.S. laws.
- Present statistics and data on disparities in surgical outcomes.
- Discuss the social determinants of health that contribute to disparities.
- Evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) clinical currency of a low volume Navy outside the contiguous United States (OCONUS) military treatment facility (MTF) compared to a medium/large size Navy MTF.
- Examine the role of a military-civilian (MIL-CIV) partnership in acquisition of KSAs for low volume MTFs.
- Describe developing a simulation educator program.
- Establish a simulation-based curriculum for surgeon-specific skills.
- Demonstrate how to use simulation for our teammates (medics/corpsmen, etc.).
- Identify the importance of military working dogs (MWD) in our nation’s defense.
