Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and physician assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the purchased care referral process and develop an understanding of how to navigate it efficiently.
  2. Familiarize the audience with the basic, evidence based, evaluation and workup of syncope in otherwise healthy individuals.
  3. Summarize the American College of Radiology (ACR) healthcare system goals in medical imaging.
  4. Navigate the ACR Appropriateness Criteria website to utilize clinical decision support tools and resources.
  5. State the difference between seizure and syncope.
  6. Recognize the red flags resulting in further consultation for care in mTBI patients.
  7. Differentiate and diagnose the spectrum of alcohol (EtOH) withdrawal syndrome.
  8. Disposition and manage the symptoms of EtOH withdrawal in a patient-centered manner.
  9. Recall the overall epidemiology of HIV in the U.S. and globally.
  10. Understand HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).
  11. Discuss the research behind subcutaneous insulin protocols.
  12. Implement subcutaneous insulin protocols at your respective institutions.
  13. Define TBI, mild, moderate, severe.
  14. Compare recommendations for close monitoring, colposcopy, or treatment.
  15. Differentiate between close interval follow up recommendations versus referral for further evaluation by the gynecology clinic.
  16. Identify physical and mental capabilities required for military service.
  17. Discuss key evidence based critical care management techniques required after damage control surgery to optimize patient outcomes and survivability
  18. Examine the concept of damage control surgery and its uses.
