Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and physician assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Summarize the many individual and collective tasks that are required to establish a highly functional expeditionary medical organization.
- Prioritize the training that is performed in field exercises to maximize organization benefit.
- Compare the performance of the individual military departments and their individual disability evaluation system (DES) processes over the last couple of years.
- Compare the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) stage to the MEB phase of the DES process.
- Recognize when an ethical dilemma is occurring while providing medical care.
- Review the difference between capacity and competency.
- Differentiate between psychiatric symptoms and psychiatric disorders.
- Utilize available algorithms and clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of common psychiatric disorders.
- Describe capabilities and dependencies of an Army Role 3 Field Hospital.
- Identify planning considerations for an Army Role 3 Field Hospital.
- Recall terms and definitions related to Global Health Engagement (GHE)
- Employ key principles of GHE in Europe and Africa as they relate to authorities, regulations, and U.S. laws.
- Summarize Dental Readiness Classifications and Conditions and Dental Disease Non-Battle Injury Conditions.
- Visualize the impacts of Dental Readiness Classifications on Dental Disease Non-Battle Injuries.
- Differentiate between current European deployments with more “traditional” central command (CENTCOM) deployments.
- Understand the available behavioral health resources in forward environments and the inherent limitations that differentiate it from Garrison care.
