Amanda Jimenez Myers, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Lieutenant Commander Amanda Jimenez Myers was born on March 26, 1983 in Hollywood California. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Education and a specialization in Health Studies. Lieutenant Commander Jimenez Myers attended optometry school at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA and graduated with her Doctorate in Optometry in May 2009.
Lieutenant Commander Jimenez Myers received her commission as an ensign through the Health Professional Scholarship Program. Upon completion of graduation from Optometry school, she was promoted to Lieutenant and attended Officer Development School at the Naval Officer Training Command Newport, RI.
Her career includes three previous duty assignments. She served as Department Head of Optometry at Naval Hospital Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, WA where she also became an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor for Pacific University College of Optometry. Upon transfer from Washington, she attended the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, earning her wings of gold. After earning her wings, her first duty as an aerospace optometrist was at Naval Branch Health Clinic Jacksonville, Florida. There she served as Department Head of Administration and Ancillary Services.
Lieutenant Commander Jimenez Myers currently serves at Branch Health Clinic Atsugi, Japan. There, she is an Aerospace Optometrist, Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor Southern California College of Optometry at Marshal B Ketchum University, and the Department Head of Clinical Support Services.
Lieutenant Commander Jimenez Myers’ awards include two Navy Commendation Medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Rifle Sharpshooter Ribbon, Navy Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon and Medical Service Corps Aircrew Wings. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and maintains a full scope Pennsylvania optometry license. Additionally, she has earned Phase 1 Joint Professional Military Education from the Naval War College.
