Larissa Weir, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Air Force Col Larissa F. Weir, M.D., F.A.C.O.G is currently stationed at Defense Health Headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia where she is the Air Force Surgeon General Chief Women’s Health Consultant and a member of the Air Force Readiness Analysis Comprehensive Evaluation (RACE) Team. In this role, she advises the Air Force Medical Service on issues related to Women’s Health and Airmen readiness.
Col Weir entered the Air Force in 2001 through the Health Professions Scholarship Program earning her Doctorate of Medicine in 2005 from the University of Iowa Carvery College of Medicine. She came on active duty in 2005 and completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC). Col Weir has served as Obstetrics and Gynecology Staff, Medical Director, and has participated in three medical humanitarian exercises. She has an extensive background in medical education, has served as a Medical Student Clerkship Director, residency program core faculty and is an Associate Professor of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences. Prior to her current assignment, Col Weir served as the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Director at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium where she was the recipient of the Colonel John D. Roscelli Outstanding Program Director Award in 2020.
Col Weir is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has a special interest in contraception, family planning and health care for lesbian/bisexual/transgender patients. Col Weir was a member of the 1st Department of the Air Force Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team of the Year for her work supporting initiatives of the Department of the Air Force Barrier Analysis Working Group Women’s Initiative Team. She serves as the Armed Forces District Secretary for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist and as a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
