Sarah Masini, MHA, BSN, PCCN, RN-BC

Ms. Sarah Masini’s journey with the Department of Defense started as a ROTC cadet at Texas Christian University, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing May 2009. She immediately moved to Fort Sam Houston, TX to work at Brooke Army Medical Center in a variety of surgical, trauma, and progressive care in patient environments until April 2014. From there, Ms. Masini served at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, first as the CNOIC of Same Day Surgery/Ambulatory processing from 2014-2016. Then, she served as the Program Director for the Clinical Nurse Transition Program (CNTP) until she transitioned off active duty mid-2017.
Her first position as a federal civilian was as the ACNOIC of the Trauma/Surgical Step Down/Progressive Care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center where she remained until October 2024. During her time in this position, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University at Incarnate Word. She was recognized for a variety of innovative accomplishments during her time in this role including earning a Civilian Achievement Medal for daily lean management and efforts towards creating a Progressive Care Nurse Academy. October 2024, she transitioned to her position in Hospital Education as a Nurse Educator. She is the Program Lead for the Charge Nurse course and serves on a variety of committees throughout the hospital.
Ms. Masini con-currently serves as a Major within the United States Army Reserve. Since 2021 thru now, she has served as the G-37/Exercise Planner for Medical Readiness and Training Command and as exercise support for medical exercises which exist to validate medical organizations on their collective tasks. Prior to that assignment, Ms. Masini was a member of 228th Combat Support hospital from 2017-2021 as the CNOIC of the ICW, Host Nation Liaison, and Medical Staff Officer advisor to the RSG Commander. It was during this time, Ms. Masini deployed to USMH-Kuwait and Joint Training Center-Jordan coordinating medical care and acting as the Program Manager for the CENTCOM AOR Joint Patient Safety Reporting System.
Ms. Masini holds certifications in PCCN, RN-BC (Med/Surg), ACLS (instructor), BLS (instructor), and is a Team STEPPS trainer. She is affiliated with the Army Nurse Corps Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing, and Sigma Kappa sorority local chapter. Her awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Civilian Meritorious Achievement Award, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Ribbon, Global War on Terror Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and German Proficiency Badge. She enjoys spending quality time with her 4 children, husband, kitties, dog, ducks, and chickens!
