Program Description: Headache is the most commonly reported symptom following concussion. Over 80% of concussed service members have reported a post-traumatic headache and many describe the headache as significantly impacting their daily function and quality of life. This online course will train healthcare providers on how to evaluate and manage post-traumatic headaches by reviewing the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence Assessment and Management of Headache Following Concussion/Mild Traumatic Brain Injury clinical recommendation.

This series of eight, biweekly calls follows the 8-hour Brief CBT for Pain training designed for Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) in the DoD. Each call lasts one hour and includes a didactic topic that focuses on a more specific aspect of pain treatment, as well as ample time for discussion and consultation regarding participants’ patient cases. Active engagement by participants is a must both in terms of bringing cases to discuss as well as offering feedback and suggestions to fellow participants. Program DescriptionThere are professional practice gaps in dental infection prevention and control (IPC), with a lack of awareness and inconsistencies of IPC practices in dental settings. This course is intended to educate dental personnel how to ensure a safe working environment utilizing IPC. Standard precautions for dental care will be identified and routes of transmission and prevention measures for infectious agents will be discussed with special consideration for the dental setting.

Program Description: This course was designed to refresh and enhance existing knowledge of health care providers already familiar with the MACE 2. This training will teach learners how to use the MACE 2, a multimodal tool developed to assist providers in the assessment and diagnosis of concussion. Guidance on how to complete a concussion screening that includes a symptom assessment, cognitive examination, brief neurological exam, and the Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening included within the MACE 2 will be provided.

Program Description: This course is offered in support of continuous process improvement (CPI) training requirements across the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Conducted by Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Master Black Belts and Black Belts, the course will be offered at a minimum of approximately once per month with flexibility in dates to accommodate MTF operational commitments, facility events, and personnel activities, which may impact the number of attendees.
