Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Outline how the Department of Defense (DoD) Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) and formulary management process works to navigate it, understand how it impacts patient care, and aid in implementation at the local Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Apply basic tools of formulary management to develop local programs to support formulary decisions.
- Describe warnings provided by other MHS GENESIS users and implement changes to personal practice to avoid/address these warning issues.
- Explain processes of less-than-ordinary actions within MHS GENESIS.
- Discuss how to code for face-to-face and non-face-to-face time when documenting patient care activities.
- Contrast the difference between new and established patients as it relates to selecting the appropriate current procedural terminology (CPT) code.
- Identify diagnostic codes, evaluation, and management (E&M) codes, and procedural codes that are most appropriate for clinical pharmacy documentation of care for medication therapy management (MTM) and Prolonged Services.
- Outline how to market your Clinical Pharmacy services.
- Explain ways to improve Provider prescribing through pharmacist intervention in the Medical Home.
- Identify roles of Clinical Pharmacy in population health management.
- Discuss the roles of the clinical pharmacy technicians in improving the patient encounter in the medical home.
- Describe the clinical pharmacy technician position description and competency assessment.
- Define the clinical pharmacist role in MHS Genesis reporting.
- Recognize key reports utilized to improve quality patient care.
- Explain differences in similar data of pharmacist encounters and documentation.
- Discuss current best practices in pharmacy reporting.
