Program Description

This activity is a part of the Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy Monthly Trainings. This iteration will review Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia.

Target Audience

This CE/CME activity is accredited by the DHA, J-7, Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technician.  A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the pathophysiology of Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia.  
  2. Describe the clinical presentation and potential complications of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).
  3. Analyze the patient case using 4T scoring tool.
  4. Review recommended treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.
