Program Description

This activity is a part of the Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy Monthly Trainings. This iteration will review cardiovascular management among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the overall cardiovascular risk among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).
  2. Identify antihyperglycemic agents which may confer an additional cardiovascular risk reduction.
  3. Outline an evidence-based antihypertensive regimen.
  4. Construct an evidence-based lipid management plan.
  5. Evaluate the appropriate use of antiplatelet therapies among select patients.
