Program Description:
This activity is a part of the Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy Monthly Training Series. This iteration will discuss Buprenorphine use for Chronic Pain.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Recall buprenorphine’s clinical pharmacology
- Summarize supporting evidence from VA/DoD CPGs prioritizing the use of buprenorphine.
- Differentiate between the formulations of buprenorphine in the setting of high-risk patients with chronic pain.
- Explain the initiation approaches.
- Generate a plan to transition patients to buprenorphine.
- Evaluate the perioperative management of buprenorphine.
