Womack Pharm: Bone Health: An Expansion of Clinical Services

Program Description

This activity is a part of the Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy Monthly Training Series.  This iteration will review Expansion of Clinical Services in regards to Bone Health. 

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.  A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize key points from the Endocrine Society treatment guideline, the USPSTF recommendations on screening, and the American College of Rheumatology recommendations for patients receiving oral steroids.
  2. Formulate a plan for treatment of osteoporosis.
  3. Describe adjunct calcium and vitamin D regimens and monitoring parameters.
  4. Identify risk factors for osteonecrosis of the jaw.
  5. List additional injectable treatment options available for osteoporosis and their recommended criteria for use.
