Program Description

This one-hour educational opportunity will take place on February 15, 2024 at 7:30 in the Patriot Auditorium of Winn Army Community hospital, which is based upon identified needs for understanding the process of promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants and registered dietitians and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the history of infant feeding and who breastfeeds.
  2. Describe the influence and prevalence of formula feeding.
  3. Explain the benefits of breastfeeding for Mother, Baby and Society.
  4. Understand cultural influences and barriers to breastfeeding.
  5. Evaluate differences in composition between human milk and formula.
  6. Recognize normal infant physiological responses.
  7. Describe the nutritional needs of breastfeeding mothers.
  8. Implement medical practices that contribute to success of breastfeeding.
