Winn Army Community Hospital: Food and Mood: Optimizing Cognitive Health, 21 SEP 2022
Optimal nutritional readiness is foundational for the Warfighter. Underlying cellular mechanisms of oxidative stress can lead to interruptions in brain health and potentially cause dysregulation of neurotransmitters within the brain if left unchecked. Therefore, informing Warfighters on foods that may potentially optimize and/or provide neuroprotection may prove beneficial to the Command Mission. This presentation will focus on increasing rates of mental health concerns, provide knowledge on both pro-inflammatory and non-inflammatory foods, and ways in which Warfighters can improve their overall brain health. Additionally, evidence-based resources and tools will be provided for the audience that encompasses nutrition health and aspects of Total Force Fitness (TFF).
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, registered dieticians and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
