Winn ACH Grand Rounds: Army Optometry: Common Ocular Emergencies, Urgencies, and Red Eyes

September 18, 2025

Primary care optometry is the frontline of eye and vision care. It involves the comprehensive examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye and vision conditions for patients of all ages. Optometrists in this role serve as the first point of contact within the healthcare system for a wide range of ocular and visual concerns. This presentation will give other primary care providers from the medic level to MD level increased knowledge to better care for these conditions in their chair and to know when to refer due to an ocular emergency which is sometimes not obvious.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the role of the Primary Care Optometrist.
