Program Description:
his 3-hour training prepares designated DoD MHS primary care pain care champions for their role as pain trainers and consultants for the PCMH team, pain SMEs, Stepped Care Model for Pain (SCM) implementors for the clinic, and academic advisors. The training will define SCM for pain workflows, roles/responsibilities of primary care team members actively participating in the Stepped Care Model for Pain, and job aids/tools for use in patient education and documentation.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, psychologists, dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Document the DVPRS pain scale and pain assessment in the TSWF Core form.
- Document pain pathway elements such as long-term treatment goals and short-term SMART goals for pain in the TSWF Pain form.
- Describe key areas of evaluation and monitoring of the Stepped Care Model for pain clinical pathway implementation.
- Describe the responsibilities of the primary care pain champion during the Stepped Care Model for pain clinical pathway implementation.
- Articulate the goals of the Stepped Care Model for pain clinical pathway implementation.
