This activity will explore the effects that unfavorable healthcare outcomes can create moral injury of employees, while utilizing peer support to mitigate its negative effects. Who: Dr. O’ Donnell, Ofelia What: William Beaumont Army Medical center Peer Support Program When: 22 October 2026, 0930-1130 MST Where: Classroom 4, Administration Building How: Interactive training sessions focusing on providing team members with the necessary tools and skills to assist others that have encountered a negative healthcare outcome and overcome potentially moral injury and remain an active part of the workforce.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician associates/physician assistants, physical therapists, and social workers across the Military Health System (MHS). A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) Peer Support Program.
  2. Recognizing triggers and coping strategies.
  3. Discuss the principles to reduce isolation and foster connections.
  4. Discuss expectations and commitment of being an organization peer support member.
  5. Utilize scenarios and vignettes to practice.
