Program Description

Staff at a military medical center serve a unique population in an increasingly complex system. The ability to understand and utilize the military medical resources and programs for treatment and referral and the ability to explain processes and procedures to Military Health System (MHS) patients are vital at all levels.

Womack Army Medical Center's (WAMCs) Grand Rounds are one-hour presentations that consist of timely and topical education for WAMC medical center providers and resident physicians. The Grand Rounds presentations will identify and explain important new developments in medical science that allow learners to apply the new information to their clinical practice.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, healthcare executives, psychologists, social workers and certified counselors. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the structure of the Strategic Surgical Readiness Initiative (SSRI).
  2. Identify the benefits of the SSRI to Womack and the partner agencies.
  3. Outline the opportunities for improvement in surgical staff and resident knowledge skills and abilities provided by participation in the SSRI.
