Program Description

This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference (VCE OTVR VTC). This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain why ocular chemical injuries are true ocular emergencies and require immediate point of injury intervention
  2. Describe how acids and alkalis damage the eye
  3. Identify the various ocular injuries caused by acids and alkalis
  4. Describe the management options ocular injuries caused by acids and alkalis
