Program Description

This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference (VCE OTVR VTC). This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the Department of Defensce (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss extraocular muscle anatomy and physiology.
  2. Develop a firm understanding of planning considerations prior to surgery.
  3. Outline preoperative considerations for exposing and isolating extraocular muscles in trauma.
  4. Apply a systematic approach to exposing, isolating, and reattaching extraocular muscles in globe trauma.
  5. Review a case presentation of an avulsion of extraocular muscles.
