This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference. This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) Mission & Vision
  2. Recognize the goal of Vision Care Services Coordination (VCSC)
  3. Define the role and capabilities of a VCSC and how they can help DoD service members and eligible beneficiaries.
  4. Identify the different facilities, departments, and organizations that the VCSC interacts with to support our providers, ancillary staff, and eligible patient populations with an example.
  5. State the locations of the VCSCs and their contact information.
  6. Learn about Veterans Affairs (VA) Blind Rehabilitation Service (BRS) mission and demographics served.
  7. Explore BRS Continuum of Care assets and availability of services across the nation.
  8. Explain eligibility for VA BRS.
  9. List type of services provided by BRS Continuum of Care.
