Triservice Subsistence Accounting: Nutritional Medicine Subsistence and Meal Accounting
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dieticians and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Define (and spell out) these acronyms in the context of nutrition accounting: SIK, ESM, BAS, BDFA and Pt BDFA, NAM.
- Locate the websites where these items can be found: Tab G rate; BDFA.
- Differentiate each “earning” type and which one involves actual reimbursement: meal card holder (ESM/SIK); paying customers; Patient Meals/Patient Basic Daily Food Allowance (BDFA).
- Discuss the types of purchases (subsistence, supplements, supplies) and management practices which might control costs in each area, in contrast with costs which are not directly within management control.
- State the frequency with which the Form 368 must be turned in.
