Temporomandibular Disorders Course for Initial Care Clinicians
Requirement
The learner must complete the activity and pass the posttest in JKO prior to claiming CE credit. The Access Code to register for the course will be provided upon completion of the course in JKO. If you did not receive the access code from JKO, then you may email your JKO-issued certificate of completion to dha.ncr.j7.mbx.cepo-cms-support@health.mil, and the CEPO team will provide you with the access code.
Program Description
This enduring material contains four modules focused on different aspects of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) that will benefit the Initial Care Clinicians. Modules are primarily composed of educational videos presenting on TMD pathophysiology, assessment, diagnosis, and management concepts. Additionally, it contains learning tools such as case-based learning scenarios, short anatomy videos, chairside screening tool, and patient management tools.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Summarize the prevalence and impact of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD).
- Describe normal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and masticatory muscle function.
- Identify pertinent anatomical, neuroanatomical, and physiological factors related to TMDs.
- Recognize common TMD comorbidities and risk factors.
- Summarize the screening process for TMD patients in clinical practice.

- Describe execution of TMD examination.
