TBICoE Quarterly Education Series: TBI Research Seminar
Program Description
This activity is hosted by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) and will explore how TBI research is carried out across the military health system by individuals from diverse clinical and scientific backgrounds. This collaborative network of researchers directly advances education of military and civilian providers and improves clinical care. This TBICoE event will highlight how TBI research can impact your clinical practice

Target Audience
This CE/CME activity is accredited by the DHA, J-7, Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, optometrists, social workers, psychologists, certified counselors, kinesiotherapists, audiologists, speech language pathologists, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze head injury biomarkers and identify indicated and non-indicated TBI evaluation devices and understand related FDA regulations and updates.
- Justify need for cognitive rehabilitation strategies including computerized cognitive training games.
- Summarize the current knowledge on the association between traumatic brain injury (TBI) and mental health among service members to include substance use and suicidality.
- Identify emerging multidimensional magnetic resonance imaging approaches and the potential application, benefits, and challenges in detecting and mapping TBI.
