Program Description
A challenge of modern-day warfare is determining the course of care when a battlefield injury results in traumatic brain injury. Understanding evidence-based guidance outlined in the Joint Trauma System (JTS) TBI Prolonged Field Care Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) supports the implementation of TBI management strategies in an austere environment. Reviewing the advances and challenges in operational medicine facilitates optimal care for service members in combat settings. This educational activity, hosted by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence and facilitated by military clinicians across the DOD will provide comprehensive insight spanning from prolonged field care clinical guidelines to its application in combat operations and military medical training environments.

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, optometrists, social workers, psychologists, athletic trainers, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, certified counselors, kinesiotherapists, speech language pathologists, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants.
