TBICoE Quarterly Education Series: Optimizing Hearing and Vision Recovery Care
Program Description:
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can result in complex symptom presentation and performance deficits in vision and hearing. These deficits can impact a service member’s daily functioning and impede their ability to contribute effectively to operational duties and overall mission success. Conditions such as tinnitus, auditory processing deficits, visual attention or visual field loss require specialized knowledge and treatment approaches. This educational activity hosted by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) in collaboration with the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Hearing Center of Excellence (HCE) and the Comprehensive Neurological Vision Rehabilitation (CNVR) program will provide instruction on appropriate vision and hearing screening tools, advances in diagnosis technology, and treatment strategies and rehabilitation programs for patients with TBI and co-occurring vision and hearing conditions.
