Overview

Program Description

This webinar explores the medical response to TBI after recent operational events. Providers directly impacted by these events will discuss challenges faced on the ground. The session will introduce the Tactical Military Acute Concussion Evaluation used in the deployed setting. Additionally, we will discuss how lessons learned impact the advancement of future TBI care in operational environments.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and athletic trainers. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize current clinical practices for traumatic brain injury (TBI) evaluation and management during prolonged casualty care.
  2. Evaluate the unique challenges of TBI management in special operation missions.
  3. Outline current DoD policy and procedures for TBI care.
  4. Analyze the Tactical Military Acute Concussion Evaluation (T-MACE) to describe its application in combat environments.
  5. Identify and discuss available resources, lessons learned from prior engagements, and ways to optimize TBI care during future operations.
