TBICoE: Military Acute Concussion Evaluation 2 (MACE 2) Refresher Training - 2026

This course refreshes and enhances the knowledge of health care providers familiar with the MACE 2, a multimodal tool used to assess and diagnose concussion. It provides guidance on completing the MACE 2 concussion screening that includes a symptom assessment, cognitive examination, brief neurological exam, and Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician associates/physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, athletic trainers, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Utilize the Military Acute Concussion Evaluation 2 (MACE 2) as an acute assessment tool to screen for and identify concussion/mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
  2. Identify key features of the MACE 2.
  3. Explain how the MACE 2 standardizes identification of traumatic brain injury (TBI) among service members (SM).
  4. Describe how accurate documentation and coding are essential for continuity of care.
