TBICOE: Facilitating TBI Rehab: Using the Progressive Return to Activity in a Clinic Setting
TBI rehabilitation and recovery can be challenging. Join the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence for an interactive event featuring physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and case management subject matter experts who provide and coordinate TBI patient care. These experts will be highlighting evidence-based best practices and ideas to engage, motivate, and challenge patients. Providers and clinicians will be equipped with real-world treatment strategies for various stages of progression in the Progressive Return to Activity clinical recommendation.

Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, athletic trainers, psychologists, counselors, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, speech language pathologists, kinesiologists, and social workers. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Identify supports and barriers to effective implementation of the Progressive Return to Activity (PRA) within clinical settings.
- Explain the role of the Person-Environment-Occupation model in tailoring PRA to individual service members.
- Design a staged rehabilitation intervention incorporating job-specific physical and cognitive components utilizing the PTA to prepare service members for return to duty.
- Describe key resources (e.g. patient/caregiver education) to address comorbid conditions for improved patient outcomes.
- Devise objective, patient-centered measurable goals, and implement strategies specific to their scope of practice to prioritize brain health.
