TBICoE Education Series: Performance Nutrition After TBI
Prioritizing warfighter brain health is a top priority for the Military Health System. Comprehensive care and support are paramount to ensuring service members who’ve sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) are physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to conduct military tasks, build resilience, and contribute to mission success. This educational activity hosted by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) examines the critical role of nutrition, supplementation, and gut health in optimizing recovery and performance following TBI. It reviews how specific diets and evidence-based supplements can help heal the brain, lower inflammation, and improve thinking and energy. The session also highlights new research on the gut-brain axis and how it affects mood, thinking, and recovery, with tips on how to use these ideas in TBI treatment and care. This live-virtual event is intended for military personnel and all types of military healthcare professionals across the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
