TBICoE DHA US1226 Progressive Return to Activity

The PRA is a stepwise protocol designed to return service members to full duty as quickly and safely as possible after concussion. The activity is brought to you by the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence.

Requirement: Complete the activity and pass the posttest in JKO to claim CE credit. The access code to register and claim credit for the course will be provided upon completion of the course in JKO.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the initial management of a patient diagnosed with concussion.
  2. Communicate the criteria for progression in the Progressive Return to Activity (PRA) to a service member.
  3. Identify appropriate activities for each of the six stages of the PRA and provide activity examples for each stage.
  4. Apply primary care management strategies to service members who are not progressing as expected in the PRA and recognize indications for specialty referral.
  5. Conduct the Return to Duty (RTD) screening with a service member.
