Learning Objectives

  1. Explain various reasons why youth are at risk for overuse injuries. 
  2. Describe the biomechanical differences of youth that need to be considered for all evaluation and for treatment planning. 
  3. Discuss the possible implications of toe walking and torsional and angular conditions for a pediatric patient. 
  4. Identify fundamental motor skills that should be considered for assessment for pediatric patients. 
  5. Verbalize treatment considerations that may be different from the adult population. 
  6. List ideas for home program considerations for the pediatric population. 
  7. Explain the roles and responsibilities of a Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Physical Therapist (PT). 
  8. Outline physical therapists’ impact the Army’s Holistic Health & Fitness (H2F) initiative. 
  9. Demonstrate how BCT PTs assist units with preparation for the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). 
  10. Describe the purpose of PTs in unit Reconditioning PRT programs in accordance with FM 7-22, Chapter 6.
  11. Identify opportunities for injury prevention in our patient population. 
  12. Comprehend effective exercise progressions that bridge the gap between rehab and RPRT to the ACFT.
