Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, kinesiotherapists, counselors, and healthcare executives. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

1. Compare the effects of acute and chronic sleep deprivation.

2. Demonstrate interventions to improve sleep time.

3. Summarize what the SAFE-T Summit does, what updates for Safe Anesthesia Practice they have adopted, and how they can be applied to our current practice in the military.

4. Apply the current Anesthesia Preoperative guidelines safely to our patients.

5. Review the anesthetic considerations for patients on chronic opioid therapy.

6. Review anesthetic options for managing opioid-tolerant patients in the perioperative setting.

7. Identify injury patterns and pain control needs in combat trauma patient (CTP).

8. Evaluate an evidence-based algorithm to pain management in the combat trauma patient.
