Results from RAND Systematic Review on the Effects of Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder on Functional Outcomes: A Home Study

Decision-makers and clinicians need access to updated scientific findings of relevance to both clinical policy and practice. The PHCoE has RAND to provide a systematic review on the functional effects of medication-assisted treatments for opioid use disorder. This activity intends to educate MHS clinicians and decision-makers about evidence-based practices for treating MHS beneficiaries with opioid use disorder. The evidence base related to clinical practices is rapidly changing. This can delay uptake of evidence-based practices and result in reliance on treatments that have been proven ineffective. This activity would inform and facilitate uptake of evidence-based practices for mental health treatment.

Target Audience

Physicians, social workers, nurses, and psychologists.

1. Interpret the results of systematic reviews considering their quality of evidence rating.

2. Explain the policy and practice implications of research examining the effects of medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder functional outcomes.

3. Summarize the results of systematic review on the effect of medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder on functional outcomes.
