Registered Dietitians Skills: Pediatric Nutrition Overview
Program Description:
The majority of registered dietitians at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) do not have previous or current pediatric experience. This live lecture will serve as a guide and resource for all of the BAMC registered dietitian/nutritionist staff to provide appropriate and up to date clinical pediatric care. This CE activity will increase the clinician’s knowledge of how to identify appropriate growth, malnutrition, assess estimated needs, and care for Pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for registered dieticians and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Identify and screen for pediatric malnutrition.
- Estimate the needs of energy, protein, and fluid for pediatric patients.
- Explain special considerations for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) patients.
- Describe and understand the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Pediatric formulary.
- Locate and utilize pediatric resources.
