Target Audience

This (CE) activity is provided by the DHA J-7 Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO). This activity provides continuing education for physicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review basic facial nerve anatomy and function. 
  2. Analyze the potential sequelae of facial paralysis. 
  3. Identify the importance of and the various methods to protect the eye. 
  4. Explain the role of physiotherapy, pharmacologic interventions, speech therapy and behavioral health in the management of facial paralysis patients. 
  5. Discuss instituting bilateral myringectomy with tympanostomy tube insertion and adenoidectomy as a treatment for the facial paralysis patient.
