Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness: Globe Removal: Enucleation, Evisceration, Exenteration
This is the monthly Vision Center of Excellence Ocular Trauma and Vision Readiness Video TeleConference. This conference discusses ocular trauma cases and vision readiness topics from around the Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. These topics are necessary to keep the eye care providers up to date with their required knowledge, skills and assessments.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses and optometrists. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the history of combat-related injuries resulting in enucleation.
- Review indications and goals for management of severely traumatized eye.
- Describe surgical approaches for enucleation, evisceration, and exenteration.
- Explain post-surgical considerations following enucleation, evisceration, and exenteration.
