Nutrition Support Guidelines and the Operational Nutrition Environment
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for dieticians and dietetic technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Compare and describe several American Society / European Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN and ESPEN), and Canadian guidelines for nutrition support in critically ill patients.
- Identify patients at risk for refeeding and treat appropriately.
- Describe and implement practice recommendations for blenderized tube feedings.
- Apply critical care nutrition guidelines to various scenarios.
- Understand the potential roles of the dietitian in support of the operational nutrition environment.
